  • Kansas Produce Growers Inventory Now Available

    The Kansas Department of Agriculture and K-State Research and Extension have partnered to release the Kansas Produce Growers Inventory, a tool to identify produce growers affected by the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and Produce Safety Rule (PSR).

    The Kansas Department of Agriculture has been awarded $296,405.62 through the Specialty Crop Block Grant Program administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture – Agricultural Marketing Service.
  • KDA to Host Egg Grading Workshop in Colby

    The Kansas Department of Agriculture will host an egg grading workshop at Colby Community College to train poultry producers in egg grading and to share other important poultry care and food safety information. The workshop is available to all Kansas egg producers at no charge.
  • Specialty Crop Survey Results Complete

    Recent years have seen increased enthusiasm for specialty crop agriculture, and opportunities for growth exist in this sector of agriculture throughout Kansas. To support and expand this growth in the specialty crop industry, the Kansas Department of Agriculture conducted the first-ever Statewide Survey of Specialty Crop Production in 2016.
  • KDA Announces Kansas Wildfire Cost Share Initiative

    The Kansas Department of Agriculture announced that the State Conservation Commission has approved the creation of the Kansas Wildfire Cost Share Initiative which will provide funding in the amount of $200,000 for specific recovery expenses following recent wildfires in Kansas. The commission approved the action in September to work with local Conservation Districts in supporting the recovery efforts.
  • KDA partners with Blue Valley FFA and Hy-Vee to sell pink pumpkins

    The Kansas Department of Agriculture is partnering with the Blue Valley FFA Chapter and Hy-Vee Manhattan to sell pink pumpkins in support of breast cancer research. The pink pumpkins will be for sale for $10 on October 7 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in front of Hy-Vee Manhattan at 601 N. 3rd Place. A pink pumpkin on your porch will show you stand with Blue Valley FFA and many others in the fight against breast cancer.
  • Taiwan Agricultural Youth Exchange Program Accepting Applications

    The 2017 Taiwan Agricultural Youth Exchange Program is currently accepting applications from high school seniors or college freshmen who are passionate about agriculture and are interested in representing Kansas in a week-long exchange program in late November 2017.
  • Kansas Companies Participate in Trade Mission to China

    The Kansas Department of Agriculture led a trade mission to China in August 2017 to provide an opportunity for Kansas small businesses to research new markets. The purpose of the mission was to attend Petfood Forum China and participate in the trade show at Pet Fair Asia.
