  • New Commissioners Elected to Kansas Commodity Commissions

    The Kansas Department of Agriculture announced the results of recent elections held for the state’s five grain commodity commissions — corn, grain sorghum, soybeans, sunflowers and wheat in districts Seven, Eight and Nine in the eastern region of the state. Commissioners serve three-year terms and the terms will commence on April 1, 2019.

  • KDA Announces Specialty Crop Block Grant Opportunity

    The Kansas Department of Agriculture is accepting applications for the 2019 Specialty Crop Block Grant Program. Funds for the program are awarded to the agency by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Marketing Service. The funds are in turn granted to projects and organizations that promote the competitiveness of specialty crops.

  • KDA Offers Morel Mushroom Identification Classes

    The Kansas Department of Agriculture, in partnership with K-State Research and Extension, is offering two classes to help people earn the necessary approval to sell wild morel mushrooms. The classes will take place in South Hutchinson on March 12 and in Eureka on March 19.
  • Industrial Hemp Research Program Applications Now Available

    Applications to obtain a license to participate in the new Kansas Industrial Hemp Research Program are now available on the Kansas Department of Agriculture website. Applications are now posted as the regulations for the program became effective today.
