The Kansas Department of Agriculture has received a U.S. Department of Agriculture Specialty Crop Block Grant to fund the Meet Me at the Market Consumer Recruitment Campaign to provide farmers’ market managers and vendors with resources to increase awareness of specialty crops available at their markets.

The State Conservation Commission will meet at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 19, 2017. The meeting take place in the Consulate III meeting room at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Wichita Airport at 2098 Airport Road in Wichita. The meeting is open to the public.

The Kansas Department of Agriculture will host an egg grading workshop at Colby Community College to train poultry producers in egg grading and to share other important poultry care and food safety information. The workshop is available to all Kansas egg producers at no charge.

Recent years have seen increased enthusiasm for specialty crop agriculture, and opportunities for growth exist in this sector of agriculture throughout Kansas. To support and expand this growth in the specialty crop industry, the Kansas Department of Agriculture conducted the first-ever Statewide Survey of Specialty Crop Production in 2016.
