The Kansas Department of Agriculture is accepting applications for the 2019 Specialty Crop Block Grant Program. Funds for the program are awarded to the agency by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Marketing Service. The funds are in turn granted to projects and organizations that promote the competitiveness of specialty crops.

The Kansas Department of Agriculture will host a business development workshop in Hays on Wednesday, March 20. Jon Schallert, internationally recognized speaker and business expert, will present a workshop titled: “Transform Your Business into a Consumer Destination.”

The Kansas Department of Agriculture, in partnership with K-State Research and Extension, is offering two classes to help people earn the necessary approval to sell wild morel mushrooms. The classes will take place in South Hutchinson on March 12 and in Eureka on March 19.

Applications to obtain a license to participate in the new Kansas Industrial Hemp Research Program are now available on the Kansas Department of Agriculture website. Applications are now posted as the regulations for the program became effective today.

The Kansas Department of Agriculture’s Pet Animal Advisory Board will meet at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2019. This is a regularly scheduled board meeting, and is expected to adjourn around noon.
