This course will cover community responsibilities after a flood.  Topics will include surveying damages, substantial damages, permits for repairs and other considerations. The format will be an online webinar using the Zoom software platform. This class has been approved for 1 hour of Continuing Education Credit (CEC) toward the Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) credential.

How to File a LOMC: Part 1

Part 1 of the How to File a LOMR class will include an overview of the LOMC process, the options for LOMC’s, fee’s, methods, and timelines.  It will also include aspects of the MT Applications, including examples.  MT Applications review will continue in Part 2.  Virtual Training held on April 28, 2021 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM.


How to File a LOMC: Part 2

Part 2 of the How to File a LOMR class will discuss aspects of the MT Applications, including examples.  MT Applications review will be a continuation from Part 1.  Part 2 will include an exercise that will take attendees from start to finish of prepping a model and filling out the MT Application.  This training will also consider lessons learned from floodplain administrators, engineers and reviewers.  Virtual Training held on April 29, 2021 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM.

 
 

Flood Insurance Claims Handbook Overview

This course will cover various aspects of the NFIP claim process. Such highlights will include the claim process, coverages, appeals, and other considerations. The format will be an online webinar using the Zoom software platform. Kansas Quick Guide

This is a basic level course, covering the Kansas 2019 Quick Guide. We will go over each topic covered in the booklet. It will touch on the many aspects of floodplain management. Virtual Training held on April 1st, 2021 from 10:00—11:00 a.m.



How to Complete a Floodplain Development Permit

This course covers the basic 9-step process of completing and reviewing a local floodplain development permit.  Virtual Training on March 25th, 2021 from 10:00—11:00 a.m.

 


LOMA and LOMR-F Part 1

This class compares LOMA and LOMR-F and completion of the forms. Part 1 focuses on the LOMA. Virtual training was held on January 13th, 2021 from 1:00 p.m.—2:00 p.m.

This class is for officials responsible for reviewing elevation certificates and surveyors who complete the forms. The focus is on section A of the elevation certificate forms. Virtual Training held on October 20th, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

This class is for officials responsible for reviewing elevation certificates and surveyors who complete the forms. The focus is on section B of the elevation certificate forms. Virtual Training held on October 21st, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

This class is for officials responsible for reviewing elevation certificates and surveyors who complete the forms. The focus is on sections C, D & E of the elevation certificate forms. Virtual Training held on October 22nd, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.




Websites for Floodplain Management Success

This class is for officials responsible for administering their local floodplain management ordinance. The focus is on using State and Federal websites for information on Base Flood Elevations, Map Data and LiDAR. Inspecting Violations and Giving Notices

This free class is designed for floodplain managers and community officials responsible for enforcing floodplain management regulations. The course will focus on investigating alleged violations and sending notices to property owners. Virtual Training held on August 11, 2020 from 11:00 a.m.—12:00 p.m. 



Meeting with Violators and Resolving Issues

This free class is designed for floodplain managers and community officials responsible for enforcing floodplain management regulations. The course will focus on meeting with violators and resolving matters. Resolution may include going to court. Virtual Training held on August 12, 2020 from 11:00 a.m.—12:00 p.m.

ArcGIS Pro For Floodplain Management

Part 1

Part 1 of the ArcGIS Pro for Floodplain Management class focuses on accessing floodplain data and how to manipulate and symbolize floodplain data using ArcGIS Pro.  The data sources explored include the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Flood Map Service Center (MSC) and the GIS services offered by the Kansas Department of Agriculture – Division of Water Resources (KDA-DWR) and the Kansas Data Access and Support Center (DASC). The data explored include floodplain boundaries and LiDAR based ground elevations. Virtual Training held on September 22nd, 2020 from 10:00 a.m.—12:00 p.m.

Part 2

Part 2 of the ArcGIS Pro for Floodplain Management class builds on the topics learn in Part 1 by exploring how ArcGIS Pro can be used in floodplain management activities. Activities explored include calculating a Base Flood Elevation (BFE), identifying properties residing in the floodplain, and creating maps to communicate floodplain information including how to make Community Rating System (CRS) maps for credits in this program. Virtual Training held on September 23rd, 2020 from 10:00 a.m.—12:00 p.m.

GIS for CRS: Completing Community Rating System (CRS) Activities using ArcGIS Pro

Part 1

Part 1 of the GIS for CRS training focus on accessing floodplain data and how to manipulate and symbolize floodplain data using ArcGIS Pro. Part 2

Part 2 of the GIS for CRS training focus on how to create maps using ArcGIS Pro and how to create maps to collect points under CRS Activity 320 - Map Information Service. This part will also cover the GIS processes and analysis to edit data within ArcGIS Pro and uses these processes to collect points under CRS Activity 420 - Open Space Preservation. Virtual training held January 21st, 2021 from 10:00a.m.—11:30a.m.
