  • Parsons to Host Regional Farmers’ Market Vendor Workshop

    The Kansas Department of Agriculture (KDA), K-State Research and Extension and the Kansas Department of Health and Environment will host a regional workshop in Parsons on Saturday, Feb. 20, to assist farmers’ market vendors and managers. This is one of four regional workshops which are being hosted by the KDA this year.

    The From the Land of Kansas Annual Conference and Trade Show will be held Feb. 25-26, 2016, in Manhattan, Kan. The conference includes the annual meeting for members, partners and farmers’ markets. It will feature general sessions, specialized workshops and a wholesale trade show for all attendees.
  • Wichita to Host Regional Farmers’ Market Vendor Workshop

    The Kansas Department of Agriculture (KDA), K-State Research and Extension and the Kansas Department of Health and Environment will host a regional workshop in Wichita on Saturday, Feb. 6, in conjunction with the Central Kansas Market Grower Vendor Workshop. This is one of four regional workshops which are being hosted by the KDA this year to assist farmers’ market vendors and managers.
  • KDA Mails Commodity Commission Ballots to Producers

    The Kansas Department of Agriculture (KDA) today announced ballots to elect commissioners to the state’s five grain commodity commissions — corn, grain sorghum, soybeans, sunflowers and wheat — have been mailed to registered voters in districts Seven, Eight and Nine in the eastern region of the state.

    The Kansas Department of Agriculture (KDA) is seeking individuals to participate in Petfood Forum Asia in Bangkok, Thailand, from March 29–April 1, 2016. In an effort to help Kansas small businesses in the pet food and pet care market, this conference will allow the representatives to explore export opportunities, conduct market research and begin to establish a network of contacts.

  • Governor Highlights Support of Agriculture in Annual State of the State Address

    Kansas Governor Sam Brownback expressed his support for agriculture on Tuesday in his State of the State address to the Kansas legislature. The Kansas Department of Agriculture (KDA) works to encourage economic growth, and Governor Brownback recognized that growth in his comments.

    The Kansas Department of Agriculture (KDA) will host an Agribusiness Development Workshop on January 28, 2016 at 17624 Santa Fe Trail, Leavenworth, Kansas from 1:00-5:00 p.m. This workshop will provide Kansas farmers, ranchers and agribusinesses with resources, and current business development and organizational contacts to assist with startups or expansions.

  • KDA Extends Deadline for Agriculture Workforce Needs Assessment Survey

    The Kansas Department of Agriculture (KDA) has extended the deadline for Kansas agribusinesses, manufacturers and producers of agricultural products to complete the Kansas Agriculture Workforce Needs Assessment Survey through January 31, 2016. The survey will help KDA identify the number and types of jobs, and specific skills required for those jobs, in agriculture, in an effort to help support growth in agriculture.
