Packages

Packages come in all shapes, sizes and forms.  A package must contain three basic pieces of information. The identity of the product (what are you buying), the responsibility of the product (who can the consumer contact) and the net weight of the product.

Accurate and adequate information on packages enable the consumer to make price and quantity comparisons.  Inspectors who conduct small scale and scanner inspections also verify the net contents of consumer packages to ensure that consumers are receiving the amount of product for which he or she pays.

To report a violation, please contact the Weights and Measures program at (785) 564-6681 or fill out an online complaint form.
