Funding is available in the form of cost share assistance and incentive payments to assist commercial feedlots and dairy operations with livestock water efficiency technology.
Who is eligible?
Operations must hold a current livestock water right with the state of Kansas and must function as a commercial feedlot or dairy.
What projects will qualify?
This initiative is designed to enhance and/or upgrade current large-scale livestock watering system practices such as upgrading to high efficiency livestock waterers and water recycling systems. Each proposal will be evaluated based on its ability to meet this goal.
Construction/installation/implementation of practices started prior to contract approval will not be eligible.

- Applications will be accepted through the close of business Wednesday, July 31, 2024.
- Incentive payments will be based on a maximum cost share rate of 80% of the actual cost of the technology.
- Completing the application does not guarantee cost share financial assistance.
- If approved for cost-share financial assistance, the landowner(s) must sign an agreement with the Kansas Department of Agriculture, Division of Conservation. The agreement will outline the terms set forth for the financial assistance.
- Financial assistance agreements are limited to a maximum of three years.
- You will be notified of the status of your request for cost share financial assistance by KDA-DOC.
Funding is provided through appropriation from the State Water Plan Fund and the program is administered by KDA–DOC in consultation with the State Conservation Commission.
