The ninth annual Kansas Governor's Summit on Agricultural Growth was held on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at the K-State Alumni Center in Manhattan.

More than 300 leaders representing a variety of agricultural interests across the state of Kansas came together to discuss critical topics affecting agriculture. Speakers included Alexis Taylor, the USDA Under Secretary for Trade and Foreign Agriculture Affairs, and Eddy Acevedo, Principal Advisor on National Security and Foreign Policy Matters at the Wilson Center. They both spoke about the importance of international trade and global markets for agriculture.

In addition to the guest speakers, the day offered a series of conversations with leaders from the various agricultural sectors in Kansas. In the morning, the Crops Panel talked about the importance of diversification and sustainability and the Ag Business Panel shared concerns about the challenges of finding skilled labor. In the afternoon the Animal Agriculture Panel wrapped up the day with some discussion about consumer perception and the opportunities for expanded markets.

To close, Secretary Beam shared a summary of the highlights from the three panels. That summary can be seen here: Closing Summary
