HOWTO: Setup Hold Print Jobs

The following steps will show you how you can set a printer to “Hold Print” so the job can be printed once the intended recipient is at the printer, rather than being printed immediately.

Note: When printing a document, if Hold Print is not yet setup, you can click “Printer Properties” in Word and Excel to access the printing preferences and follow the instructions starting at step 6.

  1. Open the search bar by clicking the magnifying glass on the bottom left of the computer screen.
  2. Type “control” then click Control Panel.



  3. Once the Control Panel window is open, click on the drop-down next to “View By:” in the top right corner and make sure it says “Large Icons” or “Small icons”.



  4. Now click Devices & Printers. (the list should be alphabetical from right to left)
  5. Once the Devices and Printers window is open, right-click the printer you want to set to “Hold print” and click Printing preferences.



    Note: When printing a document, if Hold Print is not yet setup, you can click “Printer Properties” in Word and Excel to access the printing preferences and follow the instructions starting at step 6.

  6. Once the Printing Preferences window is open, click the drop-down under “Job Type” and click Hold Print.



  7. Once that is done, click Details… just to the right of the “Job Type:” drop-down.
  8. In the Job Type Details window type the name you want to show up on the printer when you go to the printer to print. (mine is shown as an example) Leave all other fields as defaults and click OK.



  9. Click Apply in the Printing Preferences window, the click OK.
  10. If printing to one of the Savin Copiers, when you or another person picking up the print job is ready to do so, on the touch screen of the printer tap Printer.
  11. Tap Print Jobs.
  12. Finally tap the print job that shows the User ID you typed in on step 8 and then tap Print.
