  • KDA Receives Farmers Market Promotion Program Grant

    The Kansas Department of Agriculture is a recipient of a U.S. Department of Agriculture Farmers Market Promotion Program Grant for the amount of $98,549. This award will help KDA increase consumer awareness about farmers’ markets in Kansas in an effort to boost the number of consumers who visit the markets.
  • KDA Receives Grant to Provide Egg Grading Workshops

    The Kansas Department of Agriculture is one of 15 recipients of the U.S. Department of Agriculture Federal State Marketing Improvement Program Grant. The grant award totals nearly $25,000 and will be used to host egg grading workshops for Kansas poultry producers.

  • Specialty Crop Block Grants Awarded

    The Kansas Department of Agriculture has been awarded $319,419.76 through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Specialty Crop Block Grant Program designed to increase opportunities for specialty crops. According to the USDA, specialty crops are defined as fruits, vegetables, tree nuts, dried fruits, horticulture and nursery crops, including floriculture. KDA will redirect the grant award resources to projects throughout the state to help grow the specialty crop sector in Kansas.

  • Kansas to receive $2.25 million for feed laboratory accreditation

    The Kansas Department of Agriculture has been selected to receive a cooperative agreement totaling $2.25 million over the next five years from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. This FDA grant allows for collaboration between the KDA Agriculture Laboratory and the Dairy and Feed Safety program to expand animal feed testing and safety in Kansas.
