  • Agricultural Growth Summit Attended by Hundreds

    Nearly 400 leaders representing a variety of agricultural interests across the state of Kansas came together on August 30 at the Kansas Governor’s Summit on Agricultural Growth. Part of the KDA vision is to provide an environment that enhances and encourages economic growth of the agriculture industry and the Kansas economy. The Summit is a key step in this long-term initiative to identify strategic goals and objectives, which will now be developed based on the input gathered at the Summit.
  • Colorado, Kansas and Nebraska Reach Consensus on Republican River Compact

    Colorado, Kansas and Nebraska established an agreement this week in the longstanding conflict over water from the Republican River basin, as the Republican River Compact Administration signed two resolutions. Representatives from the three states have been meeting monthly for over two years, in an effort to change the approach and improve how they manage interstate water matters. This effort has created a new focus on transparency and certainty as all three states work to serve their water users. The intent of these resolutions is to replace the need for annual reviews and instead provide long-term surety to water users.
  • Republican River Compact Administration to Meet August 24

    The Republican River Compact Administration (RRCA) will hold its 56th annual meeting at 1:30 p.m. MST (2:30 p.m. CST) on Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2016. The meeting will take place at the Burlington Community Center Conference Hall at 340 S. 14th St. in Burlington, Colo.
  • KDA Encourages Youth Participation in New KJLS LEAD Challenge

    For more than 80 years, the Kansas Junior Livestock Show (KJLS) has been recognized as one of the premier youth livestock shows in the region. Part of ensuring the tradition continues is the development of young leaders who are not only equipped with the knowledge necessary to raise and show livestock but who are also able to confidently and accurately educate others and advocate for the industry.
  • Summit on Agricultural Growth to Be Held August 30

    Leaders from across the state will focus on the future of agriculture this month as the Kansas Department of Agriculture will host the 2016 Kansas Governor’s Summit on Agricultural Growth on Tuesday, August 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Manhattan Conference Center. Agriculture is the state’s largest industry, employer and economic contributor and plays a critical and strategic role in overall statewide economic growth.

  • KDA Seeks Participants for Statewide Survey of Specialty Crops

    The Kansas Department of Agriculture and K-State Research and Extension are seeking specialty crop producers to participate in the Statewide Survey of Specialty Crop Production. A specialty crop is defined by the USDA as fruits, vegetables, tree nuts and dried fruits, as well as horticulture and nursery crops, including floriculture.
  • Kansas Companies Attend 2016 Summer Fancy Food Show

    From the Land of Kansas members exhibited at the 2016 Summer Fancy Food Show in New York City June 26-28, 2016. The show is America’s largest specialty food & beverage trade show, with over 47,000 industry professionals in attendance. The 2016 show was the largest ever, with more than 2,600 exhibitors representing the latest in specialty foods and beverages from across the U.S. and many other countries and regions. The Fancy Food Show is an opportunity for the individual companies to showcase their products and promote the state of Kansas at one of the specialty food industry’s premier events.
  • Chinese Sorghum Buyers Visit Kansas
