Argentina trade mission 1The Kansas Department of Agriculture is dedicated to providing an environment that enhances and encourages economic growth of the agriculture industry and the Kansas economy including the further development and expansion of marketing opportunities for agricultural goods and services around the globe. In order to help Kansas small businesses enter new markets and gain new international customers, the Kansas Department of Agriculture coordinates international missions and other market-oriented opportunities.

U.S. Livestock Genetics Export (USLGE) Trade Missions

The Kansas Department of Agriculture is recruiting for the following USLGE (U.S. Livestock Genetics Export, Inc.) trade mission:

KDA Participates in Beef Genetics Trade Mission to MexicoUPCOMING DEADLINE: The Kansas Department of Agriculture (KDA) is recruiting for an outbound beef genetics trade mission to Hermosillo, Mexico, November 4-8, 2024. The mission is a joint effort between the International Brangus Breeders Association, the Kansas Department of Agriculture, and the New Mexico Department of Agriculture. The trade mission will include ranch and agribusiness visits and participants will promote U.S. beef genetics during an educational seminar and reception. Kansas producers who raise purebred cattle and are interested in exporting to Mexico should consider applying. The application deadline is September 6, 2024.

Programs and Services

The Agricultural Marketing, Advocacy and Outreach team offers a variety of programs and services to assist Kansas farmers, ranchers and agribusinesses market their products and services overseas. Services include:

  • Assist with overall, international marketing strategies and plans
  • Assist with market research and understanding of export protocols and regulations
  • Host foreign buying teams
  • Lead industry-specific trade missions, both to tradeshows and exhibitions as well as directly to buyers
  • Work with Kansas State University’s Value-Added Foods Lab to prepare products for export – recipe reformulation, label/package modification, ingredient modification, etc.
  • Work with Kansas State University’s IGP Institute
  • Membership in national and international trade associations that give Kansas farmers, ranchers and agribusinesses access to a variety of programs and services. Memberships include:

    -  Food Export Association of the Midwest
    North American Agriculture Marketing Officials
    U.S. Meat Export Federation
    U.S. Grains Council

Branded Programs

A variety of industry-specific trade associations offer a Branded Program via U.S. Department of Agriculture funds. Branded programs are cost-share funding programs that support the promotion of branded and private label food and agricultural products in foreign markets. Participant companies receive 50% cost reimbursement for a wide variety of eligible international marketing and promotional activities.
