Division of Water Resources

The Division of Water Resources administers 30 laws and responsibilities including the Kansas Water Appropriation Act which governs how water is allocated and used; statutes regulating the construction of dams, levees and other changes to streams; the state's four interstate river compacts; as well as coordinating the national flood insurance program in Kansas.

Public Hearings Scheduled for Review of Burrton & McPherson IGUCAs

Two public hearings will be conducted on Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2016, in the Hutchinson Kansas Department of Transportation conference room at 1220 W. 4th Ave., Hutchinson, Kan., to review the Burrton Intensive Groundwater Use Control Area (IGUCA) and the McPherson IGUCA. A public informational session will be conducted at 8:00 a.m. with a public hearing to follow at 9:00 a.m. to review the Burrton IGUCA. A public informational session will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. with a public hearing to follow at 11:00 a.m. to review the McPherson IGUCA.
