Ag Day in Dillon's Stores

The Kansas Department of Agriculture is partnering with Dillon’s Food Stores, three food banks across the state and the Kansas agricultural community to host events to celebrate Kansas Agriculture Day and Kansas Agriculture Week. We need your help and support of this important initiative. Twenty-two percent of children in Kansas are at risk of being food insecure. Reducing hunger in Kansas is important to the Kansas agricultural community; as is educating consumers of how the food they eat transitions from farm to fork.

We hope to take our message about feeding the world through agriculture to communities during our Ag Day in Dillon’s stores on March 7 to raise awareness about the Neighbor to Neighbor food drive and increase consumer awareness of where their food comes from. Please feel free to hand out informational materials your organization may have about agriculture or simply encourage shoppers to donate to the food drive. This does not have to be a big time commitment – possibly an 8-10 or 10-Noon shift will be fine. Please sign up for the Dillon’s location of your choice, http://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0849abac2eabfc1-neighbor. We ask that you contact the store manager prior to arriving Saturday so they can expect your participation as well as have additional Neighbor to Neighbor flyers and information printed and ready for you. Let us know what store you will be at and we can send you the store manager’s contact information.
